The Spectacular Pellman Mineral Collection

Orange Quartz

In August 2006, the Collector’s Edge, Kristalle and Crystal Classics acquired the Norman Pellman Collection - one of the world’s most impressive and important display quality mineral collections.

Malachite/Azurite

Beginning October 1, 2006, visitors to MinVision will have the opportunity to view and acquire fine specimens from this superb mineral collection. A small group of pieces from the collection were presented to the public at the recent Denver Gem and Mineral Show, September 15-17, 2006. However, it was decided that a significant portion of the Pellman Collection would be held back from the Denver Show so that the pieces could be offered first to our MinVision customers.

Rhodo

On October 1, 2006 we will unveil the initial installment of specimens from the Pellman Collection.   You will want to keep an eye on MinVision for the next few months as we will be regularly introducing other groups of specimens from the collection over that period of time.

Copper

The architects of this breath-taking collection were Norman Pellman and his wife Roslyn.  Norm, who passed away on April 4, 2004, was a dynamic entrepreneur (owner and President of several major corporations), had a highly refined sense of aesthetics (as demonstrated by his collection and his superb mineral photography) and was a gracious, kind, fun-loving man.

Amethyst

Norm, taken with the aesthetic beauty and vibrant color of an amethyst specimen he purchased at a Pittsburg, Pennsylvania department store in 1973, began a life-long quest for mineralogical knowledge and for fabulous mineral specimens to add to his collection.

Heliodor

The Pellman’s enjoyed showing special pieces from their award-winning collection to the public at the Tucson and Detroit Gem and Mineral Shows and sharing the collection with visitors to their Arizona home.  During this thirty year passionate pursuit, Norm was able to assemble a collection of nearly 500 mineral specimens having exceptional aesthetic qualities.  Each piece a true treasure, as special as Norm himself!

Silver

The Pellman Collection includes choice specimens from historically important localities:

  • fabulous Native Silver specimens from Kongsberg, Norway
  • beautiful deep-red Rhodochrosites from the N’Chwaning Mine, South Africa
  • vibrant, yellow botryoidal clusters of Mimetite from San Pedro Corallitos, Mexico
  • wonderful orange Wulfenite from Los Lamentos, Mexico
  • world-class specimens of Dioptase, Cerussite, Smithsonite, Mimetite, and Wulfenite from Tsumeb, Namibia
  • mind-blowing crystals of Beryl, Tourmaline, and other gem species
  • superb display quality specimens of Azurite/Malachite specimens from Bisbee, Arizona
  • incredible bright green, lustrous Pyromorphite specimens from several classic localities
  • and many more!
Les Farges
