Tucson Mineral Show 2008 is nearly here!17 Jan 2008 By Robin It is hard to believe, but the Tucson Mineral show for 2008 is nearly upon us! Here at Crystal Classics and Kristalle we are very excited, this year's show is promising to be amazing! Our inventory this Tucson will be one of the BIGGEST and MOST VARIED we have ever offered.
After the excitement of the Philadelphia Academy Collection at the Denver and Munich shows, we really thought it would be difficult to come up with new and exciting specimens for our customers at Tucson. The last few months have proved us wrong. We have acquired several new collections since the Munich show (poor Dona has been tied to her desk labelling for several months!) and we will be premiering at the Tucson show:
- the collection of the late O. E. Stratton who mined in the Tucson area in the early 1900s - this collection ranges from really really ugly ore samples to some of the most beautiful Bisbee specimens seen, and the collection is filled with old maps, mining claims, journals, photos, deeds etc. from around the Tucson mining area.
- the wonderful Lead minerals of Kimball Goddard, with superb cerussites, pyromorphites, andorites etc complete with a beautiful drawer cabinet made by Keith Williams, and another complete set of Mineralogical Records.
- The inventory and personal collection of Gerald Clark (International Mineral Exchange). Over 100 flats of material from around the globe - great old classics. Only a select few 'teasers' were shown at the Munich show from this collection.
- Selected specimens from five new European collections, including new specimens from Wolfgang Henkel.
- Plus specimens from other collections we have acquired during the year such as the Steve Neely collection, and of course specimens from the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences Mineral Collection (both in conjunction with Collector's Edge)
Azurite and Malachite, Bisbee, Arizona Crystal Classics and Kristalle will be exhibiting in four places this year:
The Inn Suites Hotel - Rooms 174 and 175 - 10am-6pm
2nd Feb to 13th Feb 2008
This is one of the four locations of the Arizona Mineral & Fossil Show, and there are more than 200 dealers that exhibit in just the Innsuites! We are located in our normal Rooms 174-175, with a great range of top quality specimens on display in both rooms including new acquisitions, plus rare and used books, and of course superb Gold specimens.
Quality Inn, Benson Highway - Ballroom - WHOLESALE ONLY!!
2nd Feb thru 15th Feb New WHOLESALE LOCATION for 2008!! (sharing with Dave Bunk Minerals) We just have so much stock, that we need to shift it in order to make room for all our new collections, and we will be selling excellent quality minerals at keystone prices. This year our wholesale area will include many specimens from the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Science Collection, and a good portion of the Clark inventory, plus fine specimens from the many previous collections we have acquired. In addition we will be liquidating what used books we have at exceptionally good prices.
The Westward Look Resort - Crystal Classics only
8th to 11th Feb 2008 At this show we will have only our very finest specimens on show - not for the faint hearted!!
The Tucson Gem & Mineral Society Main Show
14th to 17th Feb 2008
This is the main show of Tucson, and promises to be the 'show of the century'. This years theme is 'Minerals of the USA' and the special displays will be sure to be amazing. There is even a book and a video. Kristalle and Crystal Classics have the largest booth in the show, and we will be holding back specimens specifically to display at this show.
