New Specimen Update 28 September 2018

28 September 2018

This weeks update features a beautiful variety of specimens from European localities:

  • Velvety rich moss-green druses of Pyromorphite in botryoidal stalagmites and mounds cover half the display surface of a sooty-black Goethite coated Quartz matrix. A delightful habit of Pyromorphite from Les Farges mine, France
  • A superb and showy specimen of metallic grey cuboctrahedral Galena crystals covering a mound of sulphide-coated Quartz and Calcite. From the Churprinz Freidrich August Erbstolln mine in Germany
  • A stunning and aesthetic bed of highly lustrous, semi transparent Fluorite cubic crystals of light golden-honey to 3.1cm on edge. The cubes are intergrown with sharply defined edges, subtle colour zoning and micro-spherical inclusions of metal sulphides. From the classic Freiberg mining district of Saxony, Germany
  • Magnificent jet-black Manganite crystals to 1.5cm from Ilfeld, Germany. The crystals have a very bright metallic lustre; vertically striated prism faces and scale-like patterned, flat pinacoid terminations
  • A gorgeous cabinet specimen of lustrous glassy, sinuating rosettes of creamy-white and greyish-white Calcite, perched on a plate of mixed Quartz and Pyrite and coated with orange-tan Siderite crystals. From Turt mine in Romania, the four Calcite rosettes measure up to 4.5cm across
  • A beautiful Les Farges mine Pyromorphite with a big wow factor! From the world famous locality at Ussel in Corr├ęze, France, the mustard-yellow acicular Pyromorphite crystals form a highly aesthetic coating over a matrix of stalactitic, rusty Limonite. The Pyromorphite is lustrous and each crystal is tipped bright lemon-yellow
