New Specimen Update 12 October 2018

11 October 2018

This weeks update features an excellent selection of specimens from the famous Tsumeb Mine:

  • Well-formed crystals of Pyrite are coated in a thin veneer of Goethite on a sulphide matrix with Brochantite, Linarite and Malachite
  • A very fine lustrous, broad tabular 2cm crystal of Azurite completely pseudomorphed by rich green Malachite sits on edge atop a crystalline pale green Cuprian Smithsonite
  • Highly reflective botryoidal mounds of pale apple-green Cuprian Smithsonite cover a core of Dolomite matrix. Attached are two double terminated crystals of Malachite pseudomorphing after Tennantite over which excellent vivid inky-blue Azurite crystals sit
  • Large intergrown lustrous crystals of Cuprian Adamite cover the surface of a brick-red, iron-stained Dolomite matrix. The Adamite ranges between bluish amazonite-green; dark-leaf green and opaque pale peppermint greenish-white, with individual sharp and well terminated crystals
  • A great cluster of white-colourless twinned crystals of Cerussite have grown on a blue-green druse of Rosasite; which itself covers a botryoidal crystalline pale green to mid-green Malachite
  • Classic specimen of white Dolomite forming an epimorphic cast after Calcite crystals, partly overgrown by gemmy colourless rhombic crystals of Calcite. When held up against a light source, a faint green colour is visible
