New Specimen Update 19 October 2018

 This weeks update features a fine selection of Native Gold from Round Mountain Mine, Nevada, USA:

  • A choice specimen of rich and substantial overlapping sheets of leaf Native Gold with a highly lustrous, light metallic yellow colour and measuring to 5.1cm. Nett weight 7.7g
  • A very fine specimen of leaf Native Gold with extensive crystal developments. The specimen has a striking metallic orange-yellow to buttery yellow colour, with crystals mostly formed over one side. The crystals show extensively the classic hopper habit with a variety of forms based around the isometric octahedron. Measuring to 5.2cm with a nett weight of 8.0g
  • A stunning crystallised Native Gold displaying a number of variations of crystal habit from finger-like prismatic to a cube-octahedron measuring to 5mm with hopper developments. With an overall measurement of 2.7cm and a nett weight of 5.8g
  • A beautiful specimen of both crystallised and leaf habits of Native Gold with a delightful bright metallic yellow-gold colour. The specimen displays a fine crystallised surface on the leaf Native Gold on both sides. One face has a well-formed rectangular crystal measuring to 1.1cm with a well-developed hopper habit. Measuring to 4.5cm with a nett weight of 9.6g
  • An unusual bi-coloured specimen of Native Gold, one side being bright metallic yellow while the other side had a pronounced orange-gold overtone. Both sides display finely crystallised surfaces, the more orange side displaying more pronounced crystals. Measuring to 4.1cm with a nett weight of 7.4g
  • A very fine specimen displaying abundant well-defined crystals of Native Gold which have developed facing outwardly from a central sheet of leaf habit Native Gold. Crystals of Native Gold range between the cubic to cube-octahedral forms and all have hopper development to varying degrees. Measuring to 4.3cm with a nett weight of 19.7g

Our Next Shows:

From the 26 - 28th October we will be heading over to Germany for the largest mineral show in Europe -  The Munich Show. We will have the biggest booth at the show, featuring 24 display cabinets filled with over 3500 specimens.

Next up will be The Sussex Mineral & Fossil Show at Clair Hall, Haywards Heath. This show is run by the Sussex Mineral and Lapidary Society on the 17th November from 10am to 4.30pm.

Lastly for us this year will be our Winter Open Day here at the Crystal Classics headquarters in East Coker. We will be open on the 24th November from 10am to 5pm. This year we will have on display the John Jones British Mineral Collection and recent purchases from other new collections.
