New Specimen Update 02 November 2018

1 November 2018

This weeks update features a beautiful selection of specimens from the Czech Republic and surrounding areas:

  • A large well-formed twinned crystal of Cassiterite measuring to nearly 5cm, displays a lustrous black colour with thin crystal edges having a translucent root beer colour. From the Horni Slavkov mining area in Czech Republic
  • A spectacular specimen of Devilline from Spania Dolina in Banska Bystrica County, Slovakia. Vertically aligned plates form domed rosettes of deep bluish-green Devilline. An excellent specimen from the classic locality of Spania Dolina, formerly Herrengrund, with a selection of some well-known collector's labels
  • A stunning old-time specimen of bright Native Silver from Pribram in the Czech Republic. Excellent twisted and curled wires measuring to 4mm thick are aesthetically concentrated over a 3.5 x 2cm area associated with lenticular Siderite crystals and scattered crystals of Quartz. A fine Native Silver from the old European mining area of Pribram, together with an old label
  • Excellent well-defined crystals of bright metallic silvery grey Tetrahedrite measuring to 1cm line a shallow cavity in massive Tetrahedrite and biscuit coloured Siderite. Associated Chalcopyrite and gemmy-translucent orange-red Sphalerite add to the overall aesthetic. A rich Tetrahedrite from the Pribram mining district in the Czech Republic
  • Richly intergrown lustrous dark olive green crystals of Libethenite to 4mm abundantly invest a matrix of brecciated Quartz and country rock. A beautiful specimen with a little associated Pseudomalachite. From the Libethenite type locality area of L'ubietova in Slovakia
  • A tight cluster of golden-brassy Chalcopyrite crystals on an opaque, off-white Quartz matrix from the Pribram mining district of the Czech Republic. The cluster is composed of a twinned crystal together with other crystals displaying multiple triangular faces.
