New Specimen Update 30 November 2018

28 November 2018

This week we have a remarkably beautiful selection of specimens from worldwide localities.

  • An amazing group of equant, cuboctahedral Fluorite crystals from the Shangbao mine in Leiyang County, China. The Fluorite crystals, which measure between 2 to 3.2cm across, are set in milky-white to light tan Calcite matrix resemble large blackberry jelly sweets. A stunning and mouth-watering Chinese Fluorite.
  • Four prismatic, lime-apple-green to darker sour-apple-green Elbaite Tourmaline crystals to 2cm tall and up to 1.3cm across, protrude from a plate of blocky Albite feldspar crystals and greyish-colourless Quartz crystals. A superb specimen from Raikot in Pakistan
  • From Mindouli in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a superb specimen of deep emerald-green Dioptase crystals; powdery-sky-blue Plancheite and orangey-yellow Calcian Pyromorphite. A highly aesthetic and interesting specimen
  • A remarkable Mimetite from the Hat Yai District of Songkhla Province, Thailand. An 8 x 6cm surface is completely covered with gemmy and highly lustrous acid-honey-yellow Mimetite crystals to 1.5cm, many of which display a stepped growth structure, very rarely encountered, forming pagoda-like towers. A superb Mimetite from Thailand
  • A superb, equant translucent and glassy cherry-red Spessartine Garnet crystal, measuring to 1.8cm in diameter, nestles in a bed of snow-white Albite feldspar, colourless semi-transparent Quartz crystals and a little Muscovite mica. From the Haramosh Mountains in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. A lovely and showy specimen
  • A fabulous Calcite that packs a big punch! From the Sarbaiskoe deposit at Rudny in Kazakhstan, five magnificent intergrown and modified rhombic Calcite crystals sit on a tiny zeolite matrix. The Calcites vary from 2cm to over 4cm on edge and are of a uniform and pleasingly pale honey-lemon-tan
  • A beautiful and striking off-matrix specimen of Elbaite Tourmaline from the Jos Plateau in the Plateau State of central Nigeria. A tightly clustered and beautifully coloured group of about 12 Elbaite crystals in parallel growth form an exquisite aligned gemmy assemblage. This highly attractive Nigerian Elbaite Tourmaline will display beautifully
  • A spectacular cabinet sized specimen of lustrous and glassy colourless Beryl and toffee-orange Scheelite crystals, richly embedded within a carpet of silver-white blades of Muscovite mica. The largest Scheelite measures 2cm on edge and the largest Goshenite Beryl measures 5 x 3 x 1cm. A wonderful Scheelite with Beryl from Pingwu in China
