6 December 2018

This week we have a varied selection of specimens from European localities.

  • A spectacular and heavy specimen of cream and light grey translucent Phosgenite crystals richly pervading and encrusting a matrix of massive Phosgenite with a little intergrown Calcite. From the Monteponi mine at Iglesias, Sardinia, Italy.
  • A fine bright yellow Native Sulphur from Sicily, Italy, with gemmy-translucent crystals to over 1.5cm primarily as two parallel forms
  • Well-formed intergrown deep honey-brown crystals of Andradite measuring to 3cm from the Banat Mountains in Romania
  • A beautiful specimen of gemmy-translucent lime-green Demantoid Garnet crystals attractively scattered and clustered over a pastel blue-green and creamy white matrix from the classic Italian location in the Malenco Valley area
  • A very rich Native Gold displaying an excellent arborescent crystal habit across the face of the specimen. A fine Native Gold specimen from the Roşia Montană mining area in Romania
  • A rare historic specimen from the Archduke Stefan of Austria, Prince of Tuscany collection (1817-1867). A number of lustrous, well formed, mostly clear and colourless crystals of Fluorapatite measuring to 1cm occur as intergrown clusters and as single crystals. From the Fibbia area of the St. Gotthard Massif in Switzerland
  • An aesthetic dome of sparkling pink Rhodochrosite from Baia Sprie in Romania
  • A terrific specimen of well-formed gemmy blue Celestine crystals scattered over a white Dolomite matrix, with crystals of white Calcite and micro-crystals of gemmy yellow Goyazite. A rare specimen from this limited find in the A10 Highway Tunnel in Katschberg, Austria
