New Fluorite Update 01 September 2020

1 September 2020

Fluorite is one of the collector’s favourite minerals because of its diverse range in colour and habit. So at Crystal Classics it is Fluorite week and we have a fabulous selection of super specimens from many of the best worldwide locations.

We first showcase three for their very different localities and stunningly different colours. So let’s start with an old favourite, gemmy emerald-green crystals from the Diana Maria mine in Weardale, the UK’s most famous fluorite district. This beautiful miniature is quite gorgeous in artificial light, but once it sunlight fluoresces deep blackberry purple. Heading south we have a stunning cluster of gemmy, intense lilac Fluorite crystals from the Berbes Mining District in north west Spain; a specimen that displays lovely colour zoning within the crystals. Our third highlight is a oily olive-green group of large upturned Fluorite crystals with aesthetic coverage of burnt-orange-red Eisenkiesel Quartz crystals, many strewn along the edges of the Fluorites delineating their geometrical form.

Other Fluorites include delicious lemon crystals from Hilton mine in Cumbria, England; a delightful emerald-green cuboctahedron from Davib Ost Farm 61 in Namibia and a superbly crystallised apple-green

Fluorite is from Frohnau near the town of Annaberg-Buchholz in Saxony, Germany. Feast your eyes on Fluorite! We hope you like our selection and perhaps find just the specimen you’ve been searching for!
