New November New Finds Update 10 November 2020

10 November 2020

This week we are concentrating on new finds from three remarkable locations. Fluorite from the Yaogangxian mine in Hunan Province, China; pink Elbaite Tourmalines from Coronel Murta in Minas Gerais, Brazil and UKMV’s very own Fluorite mining operation at the Lady Annabella mine in Weardale, County Durham, England.

The Chinese Fluorites are vividly coloured in various and unusual shades of blue, plum and purple and one has excellent bladed crystals of Ferberite. Other associated minerals include Quartz and Pyrite, making for a whole suite of aesthetic variations.

A recent find of pink and red gem Elbaite Tourmalines in Brazil have now been cleaned and prepared ready to showcase here. These gemmy crystals come in shades of bubble gum pink, cherry, strawberry and sugar candy. Some have attached milky Quartz crystals and one Elbaite is double terminated. The crystals are bright and lustrous and some crystals exhibit a whole spectrum of reds, pinks and even apricot-orange.

To complete today’s selection we have four beautiful Fluorites, all from different pockets at the new Lady Annabella mine. Lemon yellow from The Bull Vein; amber-sherry with lilac-blue banding at the edges from Sherry Twins Pocket; a leafy-emerald green interpenetrant twin from the Fairy Holes Pocket and a stunning acidic green with emerald banded edges from the Poison Ivy Pocket.

The quality of these new finds shines through and amongst the various Fluorites and Tourmalines we hope you discover that special new find for your own collection.
