New Weardale Fluorite (Jewellery) Update 01 December 2020

1 December 2020

With only three weeks remaining to Christmas, we don’t really understand how fast 2020 seems to have flown by. At the end of next week, we will have a British update to mark the Crystal Classics Winter Open Day on Saturday 12th December and then the following week is our legendary bumper Christmas Special. With the festive spirit now setting-in, we have chosen Weardale Fluorite for this week’s theme, and today is something quite different and special.

Viridis Gems specialises in cut Fluorite gemstone jewellery from the Diana Maria mine, close to the village of Frosterley in Weardale, County Durham, England. The Fluorite rough is carefully selected by Diana Bruce herself and she also chooses the elegant and beautifully understated designs. All jewellery items featured are available in sets or single pieces. Should your favoured item show as sold, please send an email directly to and she will be delighted to suggest similar and equally stunning pieces or sets. The earrings and pendants come mainly set in Sterling Silver but do keep a look out for those in 18k Gold.

This unique range of jewellery revives a long tradition of select pieces fashioned from British gemstones, the likes of which have included Derbyshire Blue John (a variety of Fluorite), Whitby jet and Scottish agate and jasper. The Diana Maria Fluorite jewellery is available as round, oval, emerald and trillion cuts, some with modern brilliant concave-cuts, amongst which you will see various wonderful shades of green, from delicate sea greens to vivid deep emerald. Also look out for our simply stunning Fluorite and Freshwater Pearl designs which have only just arrived and look sensational.

On Friday we return to the ever-popular Fluorites from the new Lady Annabella mine, situated within the former Eastgate and Blue Circle Cement quarry in Weardale. This specimen recovery mine has been busy producing amazing Fluorites all this summer, and some of our very latest will be available at the end of this week.

So today, take a break from your collection and see what the wonderful Diana Maria mine has to offer for your loved ones or even yourself!
