Andradite Garnet

ID: CC2179

Lots of well defined crystals of Andradite Garnets are clustered around this specimen from the Serifos Island, Greece. The Andradite crystals, measuring to 0.8cm, are sharply formed. They are beautifully defined along the vertices of the dodecahedral faces with deep purplish-brown edges enhancing the lustrous tan crystals. The matrix is a very pale green Hedenbergite included Quartz with short prismatic crystals. The Quartz is here and there scattered with metallic black platy crystals of Hematite. An attractive specimen from this classic Greek location.
