A fine large crystal group of Axinite probably from the western end of the Meldon Aplite Quarry, Okehampton, Devon (closed in the 1960's). Characteristic tall bladed Crystals of mottled clove brown Axinite measuring to 7cm are in parallel position. Many of these large Devonshire Axinite specimens were collected from a 1mt cavity on the top bench of the long disused quarry. Mostly replaced by grey-green Chlorite, this specimen is partly pseudomorphed by Chlorite. The specimen comes with a white R. W. Barstow collection label dated July 1981.
