Rich royal blue thick tabular to bladed crystals of Azurite are feature of this fine specimen from the Proprietary Mine, Broken Hill, NSW. The mine was incorporated in 1885 to develop the Broken Hill Ore-bodies, later to become known as BHP. The Azurite displays well developed crystal faces with a high luster, and electric blue internal colour flashes. The crystals individually measure to over 2.5cm, and some are doubly terminated. The specimen has whitish areas of granular Cerussite on the reverse. A particularly fine crystal specimen of Azurite from the Proprietary Mine.
