A specimen depicting one of Chessy's great rarities of an Azurite pseudomorph after Cuprite. Very few of this particular replacement of Cuprite were found at the mining area. The specimen we have is presented as a well formed octahedral crystal with small cubic modifications. The Cuprite crystal is completely replaced by deep blue Azurite, and coated on the octahedral faces by intergrown flat micro-radial crystalites of green Malachite. The pseudomorphed Cuprite crystal measures to 1cm on edge, with two small crystals in parallel on one of the octahedral crystal edges. The Cuprite sits aesthetically raised up from a cellular matrix of mixed deep blue Azurite and red-brown Hematite coated Quartz grains. A fantastic rarely seen pseudomorph of Azurite after Cuprite from this classic French mining area.
