A fine Baryte specimen from the Dalmellington Mine in the West Cumrian Iron-ore Field. The Baryte forms a diverging cluster of five substantial prismatic crystals to 15cm long. They display a high luster on the prism faces, with a vitreous luster on the steep [110] face. The crystals are translucent grading in to transparent at the well formed terminations. Thay range in colour from very light green at the base of the crystal to light yellow at top of the Baryte. Many specimens of Baryte are often labelled as from the general Frizington area. This specimen is actually provinced from a classic Baryte location, namely the Dalmellington Mine.
