A pleasing small cabinet specimen of Baryte, and Calcite on Hematite from the Iron mining area of Egremont. The single crystal of Baryte forms a thick tabular crystal 3.5cm long by 2.5cm. The colour ranges from a central white zone to tinted blue towards the edges of the crystal, with a satin luster. Tabular 'hexagonal' crystals to 0.8cm of translucent white Calcite richly cover much of the specimen, growing on black metallic sparkling Specular Hematite crystals, which in turn coats a hollow egg shell of red-brown Hematite.
