A great specimen of Barytocalcite from the type location at Blagill Mine, Alston Moor, Cumbria. The well formed crystals of Barytocalcite, measuring to nearly 0.5cm, richly invest a cavity in crystalline Barytocalcite. The crystals are colourless to creamy white with fine luster. The site is an old one first worked for lead in the 14th century, then for the more prolific Gangue mineral Barytocalcite in the 19th century.
