An rare Bastnaesite specimen of several well formed honey-brown crystals on a granitic gneiss matrix. The Bastnaesite crystals are well formed tabular hexagonal, with slightly bevelled edges, and resinous lustre. The largest crystal measures 1.8cm diameter, and 0.8cm thickness. Tucked behind the main two crystals are several smaller intergrown crystals. Bastnaesite is a Rare Earth Element carbonate, and this location produces some of the largest and best crystals - these are in excellent condition, and still on matrix!
