A charming specimen of varied shades of emerald green prismatic crystals of Beryl var Emerald. The Emerald crystals are pleasingly set on a contrasting creamy feldspar white matrix. The Emerald crystals measuring to 2.2cm long. The deposit at the Byrud Emerald Mine is located near the shore of Lake Mjosa, and was discovered about 1880. Although the mine was not actively developed until 1899 to 1909. The Emeralds were mined from near horizontal pegmatite bodys intruded in to alum rich shales. A fine specimen from this long closed mine.
