A rare specimen of Beryl from Lundy Island 19Kms off the coast of Devon. The Granite outcrop is part of a volcanic sequence of events stretching intermittently all the way to southern Greenland (forming part of the North Atlantic Tertiary Igneous Province). The specimen we have displays a relatively large for the location Beryl crystal measuring aver all to 2.2cm long, tinted blue to colourless near gemmy. The crystal of Beryl lays across a characteristic miarolitic cavities in Granite, with lustrous crystals of Smoky Quartz, and white Feldspar crystals. A rare specimen.
