Bournonite

ID: CC2266

A bright classic specimen of Bournonite from the famous Herodsfoot Mine, Cornwall. The lead mine is situated in the picturesque area just outside the hamlet of Herodsfoot. The mine has become justly celebrated as a world class location for specimens of Bournonite. The specimen of Bournonite we have displays clusters of well formed intergrown crystals measuring to 3cm by 1cm with cog-wheel twining. The Bournonite crystals are a bright metallic grey set in a matrix of white translucent Quartz. The Quartz has a tabular habit probably as pseudomorphs after pre-existing Baryte crystals measuring to 2.5cm. A superb specimen of Bournonite from this well known location.
