Cadmium Rich Smithsonite

ID: CC3094

A neat thumbnail of Cadmium enriched Smithsonite from the Tsumeb Mine, Namibia, the mine is justly celebrated for the variety of Smithsonite variety it has produced. The specimen we have displays a number of well formed terminated scalenohedral crystals of Cadmium Smithsonite, measuring to 4mm, with a gemmy yellow colour. To be noted is the Cadmium Smithsonite has nucleated over a previous development of rhombic Smithsonite crystals, seen as phantoms through the Cd-Smithsonite.
