Calcite on Siderite

ID: CC2136

A  fine Calcite on Siderite from the well known Trepca mining area (now in Kosovo). The Calcite crystals form a pyramid of vitreous translucent white crystals to 1.6cm long. The Calcite encrusts a rich brown crystalline matrix of Siderite forming the core of the specimen. The Siderite is composed of micro-saddle shaped crystals with a high silky luster. A rather nice specimen of Calcite from Trepca.
