A classic specimen of Calcite on Sphalerite from the New Glencrieff Mine, the last working mine in Wanlockhead. The specimen shows a multi-terminated crystal of translucent white lustrous Calcite measuring to 7.3cm tall, with spotted inclusions of tiny Pyrite crystals. Black lustrous inter grown Sphalerite crystals measuring to 3.5cm from a contrasting back drop for the Calcite crystal. On the reverse of the specimen are to be seen crystals of Calcite with light metallic yellow Pyrite. A very characteristic specimen from the mine.
