Calcite Preferentially Coated By Dioptase

An attractive bright display of inter grown translucent-opaque sharply formed rhombic crystals of Calcite, with Dioptase from the famous Tsumeb Mine, Namibia. Crystals of Calcite measure to 1.2cm on edge, with sugary coating of sparkling emerald green Dioptase, which has formed preferentially on one or two faces of the Calcite crystals. Slightly curved micro-crystals of Dolomite have formed in a similar way on the Calcite and some of the Dioptase crystals. A bright and pleasing specimen from the mine.
