A curiosity at the Merehead Quarry are prismatic hexagonal crystals of Aragonite completely pseudomorphed by Calcite. The pseudomorph we have is a cluster of three crystals to 6.5cm long, with an outer surface of sparkling translucent white Calcite crystals retaining the hexagonal shape. The underside of the specimen shows the negative impression where it was previously attached to crystals of Calcite. Micro-crystals of lustrous black Pyrolusite are also scattered over the pseudomorph.
