The specimen of Calcite we have from Wheal Wrey shows the classic well developed V twin crystals measuring 3.9cm across the two terminations. The twins rise from a nest of slender prismatic Calcite crystals. The larger Calcite crystals have a translucent faint pinkish tint, whilst the smaller crystals are gemmy colourless. Another feature is that the twin crystals have partly enveloped the lesser Calcite crystals. The matrix is a milky Quartz developed as square edge forms probably epimorphs after Fluorite crystals. A real Cornish classic.
