A rib of Chloritized gossan Quartz with an extremely vuggy and porous structure is richly invested with carpets of sub-mm Cuprite crystals from Wheal Gorland at St. Day, Redruth, Cornwall.  The Cuprite is metallic deep maroon with bright lustrous faces, which give a constant sparkle due to their sheer number covering the specimen.  A showy display specimen of Cuprite from the famous Wheal Gorland mine.
