Argentopyrite is a rare silver-iron sulphur trioxide, a very seldom encountered species. This miniature is a wonderful example displaying numerous fine and well terminated prisms to 7 mm long in, and protruding from, a crystallised mass of Stephanite, Pyrargyrite and Polybasite, the latter three recorded on the accompanying, more recent label, from a named German collector. Also accompanying this specimen is an old German small card label dated 1899 in copperplate handwriting. From the famous Samson mine at St. Andreasberg in Harz, Lower Saxony, Germany, it is a magnificent example of the species.
