Acidic lemon-yellow crystals of Mimetite are sparsely scattered over the top surface of carmine-red stained Quartz veinstone matrix.  The specimen is somewhat remarkable as it is from the type locality for Mimetite, the ancient mining district of Johanngeorgenstadt in Erzgebirge, Saxony.  The glassy, translucent crystals vary between equant and elongated, the longest measuring 9 mm.  The hexagonal crystals have striated and slightly pitted prism faces and exhibit a waxy lustre.  An interesting Mimetite from its historic type locality.
