Calcite on Sphalerite

ID: CC10390
A striking combination of black Sphalerite partly overgrown with excellent rosettes of transparent to milky-white Calcite, from the Herja mine in Maramureș County, Romania. The iron-rich Sphalerite forms a massive solid core the outside faces of which are encrusted with equant triangular terminated Sphalerite crystals. A most appealing cabinet specimen of Sphalerite and Calcite from Romania.
