A rare sheet of Native Silver measuring to 12 cm, natural metallic silver in colour and with areas of dark metallic grey, probably Acanthite. The locality is given as Wolfsschacht and although this exact locality cannot readily be pinpointed, the location is within the Mansfeld Basin of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, an area which produced such specimens of Native Silver. It is a large specimen, although it’s thickness is probably closer to 0.05 cm (0.5 mm). Despite being so thin it is robust, yet care must be taken as half way along is a horizontal tear across about 55% of its wide; care must be taken to prevent this from propagating further. An excellent Native Silver from the Mansfeld Basin.
