A gorgeous cabinet specimen of lustrous tabular-platy crystals of Baryte from the Cavnic mining area in MaramureČ™ County, Romania. Cavnic is in an area of breathtakingly beautiful scenery, with mining records dating back to 1336. The thin, spear shaped crystals grade from cloudy white, opaque bases through to transparent terminations and average around 2 to 2.5 cm tall. The crystals stack on top of one another randomly orientated, yet all aligned to a common direction. Together they form a most pleasing array of white gemmy-translucent crystals, perfect for display.
