An aesthetic and interestingly bifurcating bladed crystal of lustrous gemmy to translucent clove Axinite, measuring overall to 3.4 cm, from the Medel Valley in Switzerland.  This miniature at first appears to be formed from two Axinite crystals, slightly offset in all three dimensions yet remaining in tight parallel growth.  Close scrutiny shows this to be a single crystal with several common faces, but dividing to create parallel, offset terminations.  The specimen comes on an acrylic base.
