Leidenfrost is a shallow ridge running down the eastern slope of Sonnblick mountain, a spectacular location in the Hüttwinkl Valley in Salzburg, Austria. Leidenfrost is famous for its superb specimens of Scheelite, a calcium tungstate, and from here is considered a true European Classic. A cluster of four pyramidal, barely sugar-orange Scheelite crystals measuring to 8 mm, sit on a crystallised druse of creamy Adularia and dark grey-green Chlorite crystals. Two other part-crystals of Scheelite sit amongst the Adularia (a variety of K Feldspar). Some of the Chlorite adopts a partial box-like epimorph structure; an interesting feature for the next owner to investigate further; a nice mission, should you choose to accept it. Sometimes Scheelite fluoresces, but in this case these crystals do not. A lovely classic Scheelite, well crystalised and of good colour from the Leidenfrost.
