An excellent stacked group of radial and intergrown inky-blue Azurite crystals forming a 2.0 x 1.1 x 1.2 cm rosette sat on an attractive bed of pale salmon-orange Dolomite crystals.  From Altenmittlau, in Spessart, Hesse, this specimen is likely to be from the Schmitt Dolomite quarry.  The Azurite crystals have a slight silky lustre and contrast nicely against the Dolomite.  A classic Azurite cluster from Altenmittlau, Germany.
