An excellent, gemmy Quartz “Gwindel” from Tujetsch in the Vorderrhein Valley of Grischun, Switzerland, sitting on a thin bed of Quartz and Adularia feldspar. The Gwindel, a flattened and double terminated Quartz crystal, measures 8 x 6 x 3 cm and sits slightly angled to its matrix at about 30 degrees, with the terminations extending out horizontally. The Quartz is of Rock Crystal quality, in terms of transparency, although it is not quite colourless, possessing a very pale and subtle smokiness.
