ID: CC10922
A domed mass of opaque milky Quartz with a little-mixed sulphide is completely coated in lustrous black Sphalerite crystals, together with small patches of brassy-gold cubic Pyrite.  From the now closed Wheal Jane mine at Baldhu, close to Truro in Cornwall, England, this is one of the less frequently encountered specimens where crystals of stubby Quartz, which protrude through the Sphalerite, have their terminations coated in a brick-red layer of iron oxides.  This a great example of such red-capped Quartz from this old and historic Cornish mine.
