A small miniature cluster of well crystallised, intergrown, lustrous black Sphalerite crystals measuring up to 1.9 cm from the St. Agnes mining district on the north coast of Cornwall. If you are unsure of just where St. Agnes is, find Redruth and it is virtually due north. Although this relatively small mining area has produced many fine Sphalerite specimens, they are seldomly encountered, either for sale or in collections. This is a remarkably fine miniature in which some Sphalerite crystals are lightly dusted with light metallic golden Marcasite and many of the Sphalerite crystals display a particularly attractive violet-mauve patina.
