Aragonite

ID: CC11274
This most attractive, pale lemon-yellow group of Aragonite crystals is from Špania Dolina in Banská Bystrica County, Slovakia, an area containing polymetallic hydrothermal mineralisation which has been mined for in excess of 1,000 years.  The principal Aragonite crystal measures 4.4 x 1.4 x 1.4 cm and has two smaller, yet similar, crystals attached to its prism faces; all three crystals display pseudohexagonal development.  The crystals are translucent and have a bright glassy lustre, although this is masked in part by an attractive white sucrosic coating of microcrystalline, snow-white Aragonite.  A lovely and quite rare Aragonite group from the Špania Dolina ore deposit.
