A beautiful, large miniature Fluorite with Calcite and Pyrite dating from the late 1800’s working of Wheal Mary Ann. The mineral specimens which came from this mine are now very rare, although certain old mine records record that crystal bearing cavities were often so large they were utilized as ore passes and access from one level to the next! Incredible to think of this. This single, ex-matrix Fluorite crystal has only three faces remaining intact, but what a magnificent three faces they are! The crystal is highly elongated forming a rectangular, tablet-like prism of translucent shy blue with a pale lemon core. Its translucency gives the colours a misty appearance, causing them to subtly merge. What would probably be considered the top face of the specimen is stepped downwards to form a hopper-like structure, but beyond this rim the remainder of the crystal is missing, so the complete structure can only be surmised. The Fluorite faces are frosted with a scattering of Translucent, milky white Calcite crystals and many 0.5 mm lustrous golden Pyrite cubes.
