A remarkably rich specimen of Pseudomalachite, probably from Old Gunnislake mine, at Gunnislake southwest of Tavistock, Cornwall, England. This cabinet specimen is from an old British collection and has a beautiful old label attached, edged with a light blue geometric pattern similar to that of a Victorian postage stamp. The specimen is numbered “30” on this label. This specimen does not really have a matrix because the Quartz and Pseudomalachite probably comprise equal proportions with one supporting the other. It appears a brecciated jumble of hexagonal Quartz crystals have been cemented by a pervasive infilling of precipitated light to mid-turquoise green, minutely botryoidal Pseudomalachite. Specimens of this size and richness are very seldomly seen from this mine.
