A vuggy gossan matrix partly lined with electric-azure-blue Linarite crystals to 3 mm; acicular and micro-botryoidal powder-green Malachite; 1 mm crystals of milky-white Cerussite and pearly-white Calcite crystals. A lovely representative specimen from Red Gill mine in Red Gill, near to the head of Roughton Gill in the Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria, England. For those unfamiliar with the English Lake District, a gill is a steep-sided ravine or small valley, often forming a tributary stream to a larger river system. Red Gill mine is famous for its Linarite and this small cabinet specimen is a great representative example of some of its characteristic associated mineral species.
