An excellent miniature of Chalcotrichite, the acicular variety of Cuprite, forming two bright pinkish-red nests of capillary crystals displayed in a cavity measuring to 1.3 x 1.2 cm, with a further vug on the back edge of the specimen having deeper, more cherry red Chalcotrichite crystals. Several more cavities in the Quartz-Goethite gossan have dark maroon to red crystal aggregates of Cuprite. From South Caradon mine at St. Cleer in north Cornwall. The specimen comes with an old F. H. Butler label (pre-1887) of 180 Brompton Road, London, SW.
