A magnificent deep oil-green Pyromorphite cabinet specimen from the classic Wheatley mines at Phoenixville, Schuylkill Township in Pennsylvania.  Mining operations began here in 1851 and lasted around a decade, reopening again 1917 only to run for three more years.   Despite the limited years of operation the mine is renowned for its beautiful Pyromorphites.  An orangey-cream to creamy-tan matrix is covered with highly lustrous Pyromorphite crystals occurring as laths, bundles of laths and hexagonal barrels, some having concave hopper-type terminations.  The colour is exquisite.  It must be pointed out there are some damaged crystals, but these a few and do not distract in any way from the overall aesthetic.  A splendid Schuylkill Pyromorphite accompanied with two wonderful old copper-plate handwritten labels.
