A beautiful aesthetic specimen of small prismatic, almost acicular, crystals of Pyromorphite covering the surface of a snow-white Baryte matrix.  This specimen is from the small-claim mining area in Davidson County in North Carolina, USA, where many small-scale mining operations have been developed in the form of adits and shallow shafts.  The most likely locality is that of the Silver Hill Mine at Silver Hill in the Cid District, but this is not known for certain.  The Pyromorphite crystals are typically between 3 to 5 mm long by 1 mm in diameter and grade from a zesty light lime-green to delicate lemon-yellow at their terminations.  This colour combination, together with the dense coverage of well-terminated crystals makes for a stunning eye-catcher from this relatively rare Pyromorphite locality.  Two very old and beautifully handwritten labels accompany the specimen.
