A silky, 3 cm diameter, mushroom-shaped ball of creamy Dolomite sits prominently on top of a radiating stellate formation of semi-translucent milky white to colourless Quartz crystals covering a Sphalerite-Pyrite matrix which is only visible in the base. This lovely small cabinet specimen is from the mines around Cavnic in Maramureș County, Romania. The Quartz crystals average between 2 and 3 cm, occasionally reaching 3.5 cm with those along one side have a preferential dusting of micro-crystalline snow-white Dolomite.
