A delightful, large cabinet specimen of Pyromorphite from Asprières in the Occitanie Region of France displaying masses of deep canary yellow botryoidal spherules averaging 5 mm in diameter. The Pyromorphite richly lines wide, shallow vugs in an extremely hard and strong iron stained gossan quart matrix, so porous it has the texture of a kitchen sponge. Unlike a typical gossan the matrix is exceptionally hard and a mere stroke of the fingers against its surface causes a metallic-like audible ring. The colour and crystal habit of Pyromorphite from Asprières varies tremendously and this is certainly one of the much rarer forms and colours. There are two adjacent display faces once the specimen is oriented correctly; these being across the front and the top. The front comprises of two vugs, the dominate measuring some 12 x 5 cm and is filled with near vertical stalactitic columns of intergrown Pyromorphite spherules. It’s a really stunning Pyromorphite from Asprières.
