GALENA with SIDERITE and QUARTZ

ID: CC11752
Equant, bright and highly reflective Galena crystals to 8 mm on edge are scattered over a matrix of clear and colourless Quartz crystals up to 2 mm tall, but of an overall milky appearance.  Developed between a cluster of Galena crystals is a single 1 x 1 cm blade of yellowish-tan Siderite.  This old-time specimen is from the historic Neudorf lead-silver mining area in Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.  The area was well known for its argentiferous galena; however, the silver content of this specimen is not known.
